The Original Stop on The Dalesway walk..

The Sportsman's has been providing accommodation for the weary traveller since 1675 and for the Dalesway walker since the walk was devised. We are members of The Dalesway association and hold all relevant insurance, fire and environmental health certificates.

We are situated on the Dalesway and the Sportsman's sign is a welcome sight as you round the corner just below Stonehouse bridge. Guests are allowed access to rooms from 4pm on day of arrival and a table is automatically reserved near the fire.
Baggage transfer and packed lunches can be provided, and vegetarian breakfast alternatives are no problem (let us know the night before).

Meals are available to non residents, but on busy nights there may be some delay as our own residents take priority. We do not reserve tables for non residents.

Advice for walkers.  (don't forget to put your boots on)
The walk to Cowgill from either Buckden or Hubberholme  is one of the most demanding parts of the Dalesway walk. Refreshment cannot be relied on at Cam houses so it is advisable to take a packed lunch and liquid refreshment with you.
